The US imposes sanctions for assistance in the production of Shaheds

The US imposed sanctions on five companies and two individuals from Iran, China, Hong Kong, Turkey, and the UAE. All of them were involved in the purchase of components for the production of Iranian drones. Remnants of such parts have already been found in the Shahed-136s used by Russia to attack Ukraine.

This is stated in the report of the US Treasury Department. Legal entities and individuals are included in the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) SDN list. The individuals on this list are subject to a number of restrictions, including

  • freezing of all assets in the U.S. jurisdiction, as well as the assets of any other companies that conduct transactions with the SDNs;
  • a ban for US citizens on any transactions with such companies and individuals.

It is noted that a whole network of companies was involved in the purchase of components for the Shaheds. The firms contributed both directly to the supplies and to the financial transactions of their implementation.

"Iran is supplying Russia with Shahed-136 UAVs to support Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine. One of the servo motors purchased by the designated network was found in the remains of a Russian Shahed-136 recently shot down in Ukraine," the US agency said in a statement.

US sanctions have been imposed on the following companies and individuals:

  • Pishgam Electronic Safeh Company (PESC) (Iran) and its director.

It is noted that the company purchased thousands of servo motors worth hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (SSJO ASF IRGC). Iranian resident Hamid Reza Jangorbani, who is the chief executive officer of PESC, is also on the sanctions list.

  • Hongkong Hongkong Himark (Hong Kong) and its representative (China)

The company has completed several orders for servo motors worth more than $1 million for Iran's PESC Iran, and Hongkong Himark's official representative from the PRC, Fan Yang, actively worked on these deals. He sold several thousand servo motors to PESC and also falsified invoices to conceal the final Iranian customer.

  • Dal Enerji and Anka Port (Turkey)

The companies facilitated PESC's financial transactions with Hongkong Himark, providing PESC with access to the U.S. and international financial systems. Dal Enerji also helped to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for the illegal sale of Iranian petrochemical products in support of the sanctioned Iran Chemical Industries Investment Company (ICIIC).

  • Farhad Ghaedi (UAE)

Facilitated the shipment of thousands of spare parts through Dubai for further delivery to PESC in Iran.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Iranian-designed Shahed-131 kamikaze drones are assembled using more than fifty elements from Western countries. In the latest UAVs launched by the occupiers, 52 electrical components from Western companies were found.
