On Saturday, September 9, the winners of the 80th Venice Film Festival, which started on August 30, were announced. The main prize is the Golden Lion won the film by Yorgos Lanthimos "Poor Unfortunate " or "Poor Things".

This tape is an adaptation of the novel by Alasdair Gray of the same name with Emma Stone and Willem Defoe in the lead roles. It tells about the adventures of a young woman Bella Baxter, who returns to life thanks to the scientist Godwin Baxter and then escapes from him.

"Silver Lion" was awarded to Matteo Garrone's "I am the Captain" about two Senegalese teenagers traveling from Dakar to Europe, while the Grand Jury Prize went to Ryusuke Hamaguchi's "Evil Does Not Exist". The latter is about a man who lives with his daughter in a small village until the tranquility of this small family and their neighbors is disturbed by a large company that decides to build a glamping site there for urban tourists.

The other film festival honors went to:

Volpi Cup for Best Actor is won by Peter Sarsgaard in Michel Franco's "Remembrance";

Volpi Cup for Best Actress went to Cailee Spaeny in Sofia Coppola's "Priscilla."

Best Screenplay Award went to "The Count" by Pablo Larraín;

Special Jury Prize went to "Green Border" by Agnieszka Holland.

Director Liliana Cavani and actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai, star of Wong Karwai's films, received the "Golden Lion" for a contribution to cinematography.
