Occupants staged a night attack with drones in Ukraine

On the night of Friday, April 21, the occupying Russian army launched a new attack with Shahed drones in Ukrainian regions. Air alert was declared throughout the country.

In the Poltava and Vinnytsia regions, it was officially confirmed that the drones hit civilian infrastructure, without causing any casualties. At the same time, air defence forces shot down all eight enemy targets in the skies over the Kyiv region.

The Kyiv Regional Military Administration was one of the first to report the threat of an attack by enemy drones on Telegram. They urged citizens to take cover.

"Kyiv region! There is a threat of an attack by enemy drones. We urge residents to stay in safe places until the air raid warning is over," the message read.

Later, the KRMA noted that air defence forces were operating in the region. Residents of the region were urged to maintain information silence - not to publish photos of "arrivals" or air defence operations.

"Air defence is working in the Kyiv region! Please observe information silence. Under no circumstances should you film or post the operation of air defence systems online," KRMA wrote.

According to RBC Ukraine, at about 00:15, after the air raid alert was announced, an explosion occurred in Sloviansk, Donetsk region. The regional authorities have not yet provided any official information on this. At the same time, Suspilne reported that explosions were heard in the Kharkiv region, as well as in the regional centre.

"In Kharkiv, a series of explosions were heard, presumably outside the city, according to our correspondents," the post said.

As of 03:45, air raid alerts were declared in the Sumy, Poltava, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, and Lviv regions.

On Friday morning, the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Dmitry Lunin, confirmed the arrival of an enemy UAV at a civilian infrastructure facility in the Poltava district. A fire broke out there, and there was some damage, but no casualties.

For his part, the head of the KRMA, Serhiy Popko, spoke about a nighttime Russian drone attack in Kyiv region. According to him, after a 25-day lull, the capital was subjected to another air attack by the enemy, whose tactics remained unchanged.

"With the onset of darkness, the terrorist country launched drones from the north. According to preliminary information, the Muscovite aggressor probably used a new batch of Iranian Shahed UAVs," he wrote.

According to him, about eight enemy targets were detected and shot down on the approach to Kyiv. As of the morning, there were no casualties or damage, but the information is still being clarified.

"To the guardians of the Kyiv sky, the air defence forces, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for their excellent and professional service! You have once again saved human lives and the civilian infrastructure of our city! Glory to Ukraine!" - Popko said.

It also became known that a hit was recorded in the Vinnytsia region. Natalia Gumenyuk, head of the coordination press centre of the Southern Ukrainian Defence Forces, said during the telethon that it was a hit on an infrastructure facility in the region.

According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers launched 12 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones into Ukraine. The Shaheds were flying from the northern direction - the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian air defence forces neutralised eight of the drones.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on April 20, Russian occupation forces struck the villages of Kamianske and Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region. As a result, two people were killed and another was injured.
