Poinsettia will bloom even after Christmas: how to care for the flower properly
Poinsettia is a popular plant, also called Christmas star because of its beautiful and lush red flowers. The flowerpot is very sensitive to low temperatures, so you need to choose the right care for the development and flowering of the plant.
OBOZ.UA has collected effective tips that will help create favorable conditions for the indoor plant. Poinsettia is considered a symbol of Christmas, prosperity and comfort, so the owners are looking forward to the appearance of bright buds.
Location
Choose a bright, draft-free place for the poinsettia, but avoid direct sunlight as it can damage the leaves. The temperature should be between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, then the plant will feel comfortable.
Fertilizers
Water regularly, spray the leaves and fertilize the soil. Choose a fertilizer with a high potassium content or a complex mineral mix for indoor flowers.
Care after flowering
Typically, poinsettia stops blooming in early March when the leaves fall off and the plant goes dormant. In order for the flowerpot to gain strength for the next bud formation, you need to cut the shoots by about half.
Then place the pot in a dark or shaded, cool place. The best temperature for the plant to "rest" is at least 10 degrees Celsius. Reduce watering and fertilizing.
