More than a hundred Russians hide their yachts in Montenegro: list published
Of the 363 yachts registered in Montenegro, almost a third are owned by Russians. Russian citizens own 111 yachts.
This is evidenced by the register of the Maritime Safety and Ports Administration of Montenegro. The document is regularly updated (see the full file below on this page), but previously it did not indicate the nationality of yacht owners.
The latest list, among others, includes Ivan Sibirev. The Russian businessman with the same first and last name is the former director of Stroytransneftegaz, one of Gazprom's largest contractors. According to the registry, Sibiriev owns an 18-metre yacht Anastasia.
At the same time, in 2023, Montenegro closed the "golden passport" programme, which had been operating in the country since 2019. The first holder of such a passport was a Russian, and the programme was generally popular in Russia.
Montenegro's policy changed after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. As part of the sanctions, Montenegro began to freeze the real estate and other assets of Russians.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, dozens of Russian businessmen are also hiding their yachts from sanctions in Turkey. The list includes major oligarchs, former KGB officers, owners of Russian airports and oil companies.
