Large fire broke out in a pyrotechnics warehouse in Kemerovo, Russia: the building collapsed. Video

On 26 August, a massive fire broke out in a pyrotechnics warehouse in Kemerovo, Russia. A thick column of smoke rises into the sky above the place where the fire is raging, and the neighbourhood shudders from the deafening cannonade of explosions of fireworks stored in the warehouse.

Even the building's structure could not withstand such fireworks: it collapsed. This was reported by Russian media and Telegram channels.

"A huge pillar of smoke and the crackle of fireworks in Kemerovo - a pyrotechnics warehouse on Tereshkova Street is on fire. The structures failed, the building collapsed," writes one of the most popular Russian publics.

Russian media also report that emergency services are working at the scene of the fire.

The fire covered an area of 750 square metres, and at around 2pm, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said that the fire had been contained. More than 30 people and 11 vehicles are working at the scene.

"We are also checking the information that, in addition to pyrotechnics, gas cylinders were stored in the warehouse," one of the Russian propaganda outlets reported.

There is no information on the cause of the fire or any possible victims.

At the end of last year, a retirement home in Kemerovo, Russia, caught fire, killing 22 people.

And incidents involving pyrotechnics warehouses are not unusual in Russia. On 9 August, a massive explosion occurred in Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region, at a plant operated by the Russian Ministry of Defence. Officially, the explosion also occurred at a pyrotechnics warehouse. The explosion caused destruction on the territory of the plant and in the surrounding area. Dozens of people were injured, and many fragments of human bodies were found in the epicentre of the explosion.
