How to seal windows to keep warm: a cheap way

Ukrainians may face problems with heating and electricity due to the constant shelling of critical infrastructure by the enemy. That's why you need to think about how to insulate your home now, before the severe frosts come.

First of all, pay attention to the windows, because a third of the heat can escape through the glass. OBOZ.UA has found an effective and cheap way to avoid this.

Cling film

Cling film is suitable for both wooden and plastic windows, it has good thermal insulation properties, which will keep the heat in the room. The film will create the effect of another glass, and it will become an additional barrier to protect against the cold.

The key is to stick the cling film properly. It should not be on the glass itself, but rather on the window frame. A small space between the glass and the material will help avoid condensation, fungus, and mold.

You will also need double-sided tape and a hair dryer. First, stick strips of tape around the perimeter of the window. Then carefully spread the film from top to bottom, gradually gluing it to the frame. It is important to stretch the material, and then it will not be visible on the window at all.

Next, fix the film on the frame so that it does not touch the glass. Use a hairdryer to heat the surface of the material to smooth out any irregularities. You can cut off the rest with a utility knife.

This affordable method will not take much effort and time and you will be able to enjoy the warmth in the cold season.
