How to wash kitchen towels

Kitchen towels can become a real breeding ground for bacteria if they are not washed in time. The fibres of the fabric are deeply saturated with grease, food residues and moisture, so conventional laundry detergents may not be able to cope with the task.

In addition, there is an unpleasant smell that sometimes remains even after washing. OBOZREVATEL figured out how to wash towels with a bad smell.

There is one very simple, but, as cleaning experts say, effective way. Ordinary mustard powder will restore freshness to kitchen towels. It will not only remove old greasy stains, but also eliminate the unpleasant odour.

For your convenience, we are publishing step-by-step instructions.

Step 1. Pour 500 ml of hot water (but not boiling water) into a container.

Step 2. Add 4 tablespoons of mustard powder. Stir thoroughly to dissolve the mixture.

Step 3. Strain the mixture through cheesecloth. Now you can soak the towels. Leave them in for at least 30 minutes to allow them to soak sufficiently.

Experts advise using "mustard gruel" for heavy soiling. Dissolve the powder in water to obtain a paste-like mixture and apply it directly to the stains. After 30 minutes, rinse the towels in warm water and machine wash them.

By the way, light towels made from natural fabrics can be boiled with auxiliary substances such as table salt or baking soda. They will help not only restore the textiles to cleanliness but also disinfect them. Read more about the life hack in the article.
