How to remove limescale in a shower in 15 minutes: simple methods
Hard water is a serious problem because it leads to the accumulation of limescale in places that come into contact with water, especially in the shower. This limescale becomes more and more difficult to remove. Since water in Ukraine is hard almost everywhere, it is useful to know how to deal with limescale with home remedies.
As OBOZREVATEL found out, the basis of limescale is a mineral called calcium carbonate. It easily forms layers, which become significantly stronger over time. However, it is possible to destroy the deposits. This requires acid-based products and not necessarily aggressive ones. Here are some life hacks on how and what to use to do it.
How to clean the shower enclosure
Experts call a solution of white vinegar in equal proportions with water an effective and environmentally friendly home remedy. It can clean not only lime but also soap residues that can also collect on surfaces.
Pour equal amounts of water and vinegar into a spray bottle, shake well to mix them properly, and apply the resulting liquid directly to the areas contaminated with limescale. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes. During this time, the vinegar should soften the dirt.
After that, wipe the limescale stain with a brush or sponge. If not all of the limescale is removed, the procedure can be repeated. To finish cleaning, rinse the shower head with water to remove any vinegar residue.
How to clean shower heads
Since the shower head is in direct contact with hard water, limescale build-up is inevitable. Over time, this can cause blockages and affect the water pressure.
To remove limescale from the shower head, give it a vinegar soak. Pour the cleaner into a sturdy bag or fill a large enough container with it and immerse the shower head in the vinegar. You can use a rubber band to secure the bag to the shower head. To ensure that the object is cleaned well, it must be completely covered with vinegar.
The head should soak for several hours: all day or overnight, for example. After that, take it out and scrub it well with a brush. The vinegar should come off easily.
How to prevent limescale build-up
Limescale builds up on surfaces when hard water dries naturally. Therefore, to reduce the problem, all wet surfaces should be wiped dry after use.
In any case, vinegar cleaning should be repeated once a month. This will help to remove plaque in advance before it becomes persistent.
