"Forced to take out all available weapons": the Air Force explained the "pause" with massive Russian strikes on Ukraine
Russian forces ceased massive missile strikes against Ukrainian cities, as they had in the fall and winter, due to a shortage of missiles. During a year of full-scale invasion, the aggressor state used about 850 missiles to strike our infrastructure.
Yuriy Ignat, speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the national TV marathon "Edyni novyny". According to him, the army of the aggressor state is now forced to take out of stock all available weapons, including old ammunition.
Now the occupants have switched to a more budget-friendly option for shelling Ukrainian settlements. We are talking about guided aerial bombs.
As Ignat noted, after the explosions at the Russian airfield in Engels, the Russian military dispersed their planes.
According to him, in general, the missiles that the occupiers used to strike critical infrastructure in Ukraine are the entire stock of missiles that Russia had. The speaker recalled that about 750 cruise missiles were destroyed by the Ukrainian air defense.
"Plus we count the ones that hit. That is, we have more than 850 missiles that the enemy used on our infrastructure," Ignat noted.
It should be noted that military columnist Alexander Shulman previously stated that guided aerial bombs, which the Russian occupiers have begun to use, are even more dangerous than missiles. They have a large amount of explosives.
According to him, the enemy is quite intensively increasing the production of these weapons. Shulman stressed that Ukrainian soldiers need means to intercept enemy aircraft at long distances, such as F-16s.
Earlier, Ignat said that the Russian Federation began using guided aerial bombs against Ukraine relatively recently, after it had largely spent its stockpile of missiles. These weapons pose a threat primarily to areas near the line of contact and near the state border. In addition, the Russians have adjusted their tactics and are increasingly attacking military targets.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the General Staff of the AFU said that Russia may resume massive shelling of Ukraine. In June, the Russian Federation plans to start serial production of new strategic air-launched cruise missiles of the X-50 type.
