For the first time in history! Ukrainian national footballer bought for 100 million euros
Chelsea have intercepted Ukrainian forward Mykhailo Mudryk from Arsenal. Representatives of the London club have already flown to Poland to negotiate a deal with Shakhtar, according to a reputable insider Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
Chelsea's final offer was €100 million: 70 million upfront and 30 million in bonuses. This was €10 million more than Arsenal's third official offer.
It is noted that Mykhailo himself is also flying to Poland, where he will discuss the details of his personal contract with the British. After that, the 22-year-old Ukraine international will undergo a medical examination and sign official papers.
The €100 million transfer makes Mudryk's move the most expensive in the history of Ukrainian football. According to insider David Ornstein, the agreement will be signed for a period of 7 years.
The information about the negotiations with Chelsea was confirmed by Shakhtar themselves.
Arsenal initially made an offer of around £55 million (€62.5 million).
On January 4, Shakhtar gave an ultimatum, refusing to sell Mudryk for £62 million (€70.5 million) after the second offer.
On January 12, Arsenal made a third offer of €90m (€20m in bonuses), which Shakhtar allegedly accepted.
After that, the media reported that Mudryk had become a player of Arsenal London and would soon sign a five-year contract with the Gunners with a salary of 42 thousand euros per week.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Mykhailo Mudryk has taken the top spot in the list of the most expensive footballers in Ukraine. The transfermarkt portal estimated the 22-year-old midfielder at €40 million, which is €25 million more expensive than before.
Mykhailo has been playing for Shakhtar's first team since 2018. During this time, he played 44 matches in all competitions. He scored 12 goals and made 17 assists. Of these, 10 goals (and 8 assists) were scored this season.
