Famous footballer of Dynamo and the national team of Ukraine has died

Pavlo Shkapenko, the famous Dynamo Kyiv and Ukraine footballer, has died in Kyiv at the age of 51. The native of Zaporizhzhia played over 120 matches in the national championship for the White and Blues.

This was reported by the Bomber Telegram channel. The cause of the ex-midfielder's death has not been announced. The graduate of the Metallurg Zaporizhzhia school spent six seasons with Dynamo and became the champion of Ukraine six times. He won three Ukrainian Cups and once won the Commonwealth Cup.

 

Shkapenko scored 39 goals in the Ukrainian championships. Pavlo's most famous goal was an accurate strike against Barcelona in the 93/94 UEFA Champions League. Back then, thanks to goals by Shkapenko and Leonenko, Kyiv won a sensational 3-1 victory.

The famous footballer also played 10 matches for the Ukrainian national team. In the late 90s, Shkapenko went to Russia to play for Ural, Torpedo, Shinnik, Tom Tom and Kuban.

 

In recent years, the Dynamo player has not been involved in professional football, but has been helping his wife in the real estate business. He is survived by two daughters.
