Explosions heard in Kyiv during an air raid alert: missile debris fell on the territory of a children's hospital

Explosions erupted in Kyiv during an air alert around 10 a.m. on August 11. The authorities reported the work of air defense forces. The missile debris fell on the territory of one of the children's hospitals in the Obolonskyi district of the city. Preliminarily there are no casualties or damage, all missiles flying at the Ukrainian capital were shot down.

"Explosions in the city. Stay in shelters!" Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klychko reported as of 10:02. Emergency services have rushed to the scene, he said.

In addition to the children's hospital, two more places of debris fall in Obolonsky district were found, the mayor informed.

"The roof of a private house on the Bohatyrska is damaged. Debris in the open area in one of the Obolon's dacha cooperatives was also found. There are no victims," he stated.

The residents were asked to stay in shelters during the alarm.

"Air defense is working in the capital!" Kyiv RMA reported. At the same time, the Head of the Office of President Andriy Yermak urged Ukrainians not to shoot the work of air defense.

The Air Force of the AFU warned of missile danger throughout Ukraine as of 9:49. It reported that a Mig-31K fighter jet carrying supersonic Russian Kinzhal missiles took off from the Savasleika airfield in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Kinzhal launches were recorded in the direction of the Kyiv region. The threat of strikes was also reported in Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

"Mig-31K took off from the Savasleika airfield. Launches of X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from Mig-31K in the direction of Kyiv were recorded! Stay in the shelters!" the message says.

The air alert in Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine was canceled as of 10:33 a.m. RMA spokesman Mykhailo Shamanov said the air defense forces had shot down all Kinzhal missiles flying towards the capital.
