Dynamo Kyiv will be managed by Oleksandr Shovkovskyi in the upcoming matches. This was announced by the head coach of the White and Blues, Mircea Lucescu, at a press conference after the match against Shakhtar.

The Romanian specialist himself is forced to take a break due to health problems. The 77-year-old will undergo surgery in Kyiv.

"From now on, I'm going on sick leave. I have to have surgery on my leg. In my absence, Oleksandr Shovkovskyi will manage the team. But I will be in touch all the time and monitor the situation. I could leave Ukraine and have the surgery in Europe, but I think I need to stay in Kyiv. It's important for the players. Maybe it's important for the country," Lucescu said.

It should be noted that in July 2009, Mircea Lucescu underwent heart surgery after being diagnosed with 3 heart attacks in just 11 days. Doctors then fitted him with a stent.

The day before, the legendary ex-coach of the Ukrainian national team Jozsef Szabo said that after Lucescu, the White and Blues should be led by people with extensive coaching experience. It was for this reason that Szabo rejected the candidacy of Oleksandr Shovskovskyi, who was previously reported by many media outlets.
