British intelligence explained what frightened Russia and made it cancel the MAKS air show

Russia has canceled the main international show MAKS in 2023, a biennial event intended to "advertise" the civil and military aerospace sector of the Russian Federation and to attract clients for exports. The reason for canceling the pompous event was probably the Russian authorities' fear of possible drone attacks and the desire not to be embarrassed by a significant number of international delegations ignoring the show.

This was reported by the British Defense Ministry, citing intelligence data. They also mentioned the disappearance of the commander of the Russian Air Force Sergey Surovikin from the public spotlight.

This year Russia was to host the traditional main international air show MAKS, which is held every two years in the Moscow suburbs. The purpose of the event was to demonstrate the civil and military aerospace sector of the Russian Federation and to attract export customers.

However, the organizers announced that this year MAKS will not take place. And for this, the British Defense Ministry suggests, they had good reasons.

"The show was probably canceled mainly because of security concerns following the recent UAV attacks in Russia. The organizers were also likely aware of potential reputational damage if fewer international delegations came to the event," Britain's MoD noted.

The aggressive war against Ukraine has dealt a blow to the Russian aerospace industry.

"This sector is struggling under international sanctions; highly qualified specialists are encouraged to serve as foot soldiers in the space agency Roscosmos' own militia (this Russian state corporation previously announced the creation of its own PMC "Uran", apparently it is what is meant by 'militia'. - Ed.)," the summary reads.

Also the Defense Department of Britain added that the commander of the Air and Space Forces, General Sergey Surovikin did not appear in public after the failed June 24 mutiny of Yevgeny Prigozhin. Prior to the "mutiny," he provided the connection of the Wagner PMC with the Russian Defense Ministry.

To remind, earlier British intelligence reported that Russia is trying to dislodge the AFU from the left bank of the Dnipro by airborne assault units. Earlier, on June 30, the invaders hit the Antonov bridge on the left bank of the Dnipro River with the "Iskander" missiles.

It was in this area, British intelligence claims, that Ukrainian forces from about June 23, 2023 "almost certainly resumed the transfer of personnel to the eastern bank of the Dnipro River."

Fighting on the left bank has intensified since June 27. According to British intelligence, the occupiers engaged units from the 7th Guards Airborne Assault Division, part of the Dnipro Group of Forces.
