Fire in Yekaterinburg on September 17

On September 17, a massive fire broke out in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Polymeric materials were burning in the Siberian Route industrial zone.

The fire covered an area of more than 250 square meters, and residents of Yekaterinburg admired the thick black smoke that was visible in many parts of the city. This was reported by local media.

The first reports of the fire in Yekaterinburg appeared immediately after lunch. Residents of different districts of the regional center began posting photos with a huge column of black smoke rising into the sky above the city.

At first, Yekaterinburg residents thought that the largest exhibition center in the Urals, Expo-Yekaterinburg, had caught fire.

However, it later turned out that the fire broke out in an industrial area near the exhibition center.

"The Emergencies Ministry commented on the fire. An industrial area on the Siberian highway is on fire. The fire area is 250 square meters. Polymeric materials are also on fire. The fire is being extinguished by 18 people and 6 special vehicles," one of the local media wrote.

According to eyewitnesses, in addition to extinguishing the fire, firefighters also tried to save barrels that were allegedly containing combustibles from the fire.

Initially, the local Ministry of Emergency Situations assured that there were no casualties. However, it later became known that one person was injured and taken away by an ambulance.

The fire was extinguished only by 3 p.m.
