A 60-year-old man turned into a bodybuilder in 10 months after being afraid of diabetes
Overweight and diabetes go hand in hand. So do a lot of other health problems. The good news is that you can get rid of them along with your weight. A vivid example of this is 60-year-old Steve Ramsden from Leeds, UK.
His story was written by the local edition of Leeds Live. Ramsden works as an ambulance paramedic, but over time he began to notice that he could use medical help himself - his blood pressure began to spike, his cholesterol level rose, his back hurt, and doctors stated that he was on the verge of developing diabetes. And his big belly made it difficult to move.
That's when Steve's son Dan, who works as a fitness trainer, offered him a free program to lose weight and improve his fitness. Dan started his fitness business during the pandemic when he decided to fight the depression caused by self-isolation with the help of sports. Now he decided to help his father. For Christmas, he promised to take care of his health.
The first weigh-in showed that Steve had gained over 100 kilograms in total. In addition, Dan noticed that his father had lost his usual confidence as he aged because of medical problems.
At that time, almost all alcohol and junk food were removed from the man's diet. "He went through an intensive 12-week transformation course and he was really disciplined. If you can walk and eat, you can lose weight," Dan said of his father's success.
Now, instead of a round, bulging stomach, Steve has impressive abs and is even preparing for bodybuilding competitions, and his son calls him "an animal" for his perseverance in the gym. The man has lost about 25 kilograms of weight in 10 months and is happy that he is no longer on the verge of diabetes. "I take people in the ambulance who are younger than me and they are not as healthy because they don't take care of themselves. They don't think about themselves. I don't drink a lot, I eat well, and I didn't think I'd ever see my abs again, but I have them, and I want to take care of myself for my family," Steve says. And his son considers him his hero. In addition, the man has become a good example for his grandson.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, American chef Michael Scelfo was also afraid of the health consequences of his excess weight and lost 40 kilograms in 4 months. He shared the secrets of nutrition and training that helped him achieve an impressive result.
