Fish is a very tasty and, most importantly, valuable product that everyone should eat at least twice a week. Experts say that herring and mackerel in any form, especially the latter, are the most budget-friendly and healthy. It can be pickled, baked, salted, or boiled.

Food blogger Yulia Mlynarchyk shared a recipe on Instagram for delicious, lightly salted mackerel with spices, which will look very similar to red fish.

Ingredients:

  • freshly frozen mackerel - 2 pcs.
  • onion - 2 pcs.
  • water - 250 ml
  • sugar - 0.5 tsp.
  • salt - 2 tsp.
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp.
  • allspice - 1/3 tsp.
  • cloves - 5-6 pcs.
  • coriander peas - 1/2 tsp.
  • sunflower oil - 2 tbsp.
  • apple cider vinegar - 2.5 tbsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Defrost the mackerel, cut into pieces.

2. Boil water, add salt, sugar, cloves, peppercorns, ground pepper, coriander, oil, mix and cook the marinade for about 1 minute.

3. Let the marinade cool and pour in the vinegar.

4. Cut the onion into thin half rings and add the chopped mackerel.

5. Pour over the marinade and refrigerate for a day.

The finished fish will taste as good as red fish.
