Cabbage, millet, and cracklings - all these products are authentic to Ukrainian cuisine. They all go well together in one dish. It turns out to be quite nutritious and very tasty.

The idea of cooking hearty stewed cabbage was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Galina with the nickname reeixit. The cabbage must be sauerkraut.

Method of cooking stewed cabbage:

1. Rinse 150 g of millet several times.

2. Cover with boiling water for 1 hour.

3. Chop 800 grams of sauerkraut, cover with water and put to boil. The cabbage should be completely cooked.

4. While the cabbage is cooking, finely chop 3 onions.

5. Fry in vegetable oil until golden brown.

6. When it is fried, add 300 g of sour cream (I have 22%), mix and turn off.

7. In a separate frying pan, fry 250 bacon bacon pieces. When the bacon is melted, add 1 chopped onion to the sprats and cook until tender.

8. When the cabbage is cooked, drain the water from the millet, add 1 egg to the millet, and mix well. Pour the millet over the cabbage and do not stir it afterward.

9. Cover and cook over low heat for 30-40 minutes.

10. After the millet is cooked, add the onion and sour cream to the pan.

11. Mix everything well.

12. Taste and, if necessary, add salt and pepper.

13. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

14. Put cabbage on a plate and top with bacon and onions.
