Nowadays, dumplings are most often simply boiled in salted water. But in the past, the traditional way of cooking this dish was steaming. A pot of boiling water was covered with cheesecloth and the dumplings were placed on top. The dough turned out to be very puffy and juicy.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • kefir 2.5% - 250 g
  • high-grade flour 300 g + for sprinkling
  • salt - 1/3 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp without slide

  • raspberries, cherries, red currants

1. Pour the kefir into a bowl.

2. Add salt.

3. Sift the flour with the baking soda and mix.

4. Put the dough on a floured table and knead well.

5. Cover with a kitchen towel.

6. Leave for 15-20 minutes.

7. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 5-6 mm.

8. Cut out circles 6 cm in diameter.

9. Put sugar and berries, make dumplings.

11. Brush with melted butter.
