Yellow on blue. The director of the film 20 Days in Mariupol came to receive an Oscar in a suit with an invisible "secret"
No one even realized that the image of Ukrainian director Mstyslav Chernov, who brought Ukraine its first Oscar victory, had a hidden meaning at the awards. It was not easy to notice, but when the creator of 20 Days in Mariupol took off his jacket, yellow letters on a blue background were immediately visible.
"Freedom," a word that is important to Ukrainians, was printed on the inside of Chernov's jacket, and it was made by the domestic brand Indposhiv to its own standards. The red carpet appearance was a debut not only for the director and his team, but also for his suit, the brand wrote on Instagram.
"Congratulations to Mstyslav Chernov and all Ukrainians on this important award for the film 20 Days in Mariupol. It is also the first time that a Ukrainian brand, Indposhiv, has appeared on the Oscar red carpet," he said.
"Svoboda" was printed in yellow letters on a blue background as a sign of patriotism in the colors of the flag. Interestingly, the usual classic black suit carried a secret that no one knew about except the brand and Mstyslav Chernov.
"For Mstyslav, we made a classic black suit to his individual measurements. Its important element is the lining with the word "Freedom". We are grateful to our customers who choose Indposhiv for important days not only in their lives, but also in the life of the whole country," the brand wrote with trepidation.
As a reminder, Mstyslav Chernov won the statuette of the greatest film award, the Oscar, in the category of Best Documentary for his film 20 Days in Mariupol. This victory was the first in the history of independent Ukraine. In his speech, the director touched the audience and other actors, admitting that he never wants to make such films again, and would gladly exchange the statuette for peace in his native country.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Mstyslav Chernov is de facto not the first Ukrainian to win an Oscar. In 2006, Anatoliy Kokush won two engineering Oscars for his contribution to the film industry, without which Titanic, Fast and Furious, Harry Potter and other legends would not exist.
