"Ukrainian Brad Pitt" won the main award at the Marrakech Festival

Actor Roman Lutsky, whom fans call the "Ukrainian Brad Pitt," has won a prestigious award at the Marrakech International Film Festival. The 38-year-old star won the honorary title of Best Actor for his role in the Polish film Under the Volcano directed by Damian Katsur.

According to Vogue, the jury of this year's festival was headed by Luca Guadagnino, the Italian creator of the projects Rivals and With the Bones. He was joined by actors Jacob Elordi and Andrew Garfield.

The film itself was not left without proper appreciation, as it won the prize for best director. The film's cinematographer was Mykyta Kuzmenko, who worked on the films The Living Fire and Pamphire.

"Under the Volcano" tells the story of a Ukrainian family vacationing on the Spanish island of Tenerife when a bloody war broke out in their homeland. Overnight, the lives of the main characters, played by Roman Lutsky and Anastasia Karpenko, change dramatically. They turn from tourists to refugees. The movie emphasizes that this situation can happen to anyone. War does not pass without consequences for any citizen.

In an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA, Roman Lutsky admitted that he had been dreaming of a successful acting career and the opportunity to appear on the big screen since his university days. Back then, he was looking for various casting calls until his attempts were crowned with success.

"I think in 2010 the movie Brothers. The Last Confession" was launched in 2010, and the casting director was looking for actors, mostly from western Ukraine. Later, when I was auditioning in Kyiv, I was offered to audition for another film, Parajanov, which I successfully got into. It so happened that my film career began with two full-length meters," the star said.

Since then, he has appeared in many films, and in 2021, he played the lead role in the film Glare, which was included in the main competition program for the Golden Lion at the 78th Venice Film Festival.
