Manuel Alcantara Turner, a 22-year-old Royal Guardsman, has been crowned Mr. England and will represent the country at an international pageant to be held this November in Vietnam. The young man was chosen from 12 other finalists who were selected from more than 150 applicants.

Turner had to take part in a fashion show, a photo shoot and an interview, The Telegraph reports. The host of the final stage was Milla Magee, the current Miss England and a lifeguard who is called the "Pamela Anderson of Cornwall."

Manuel participated in the coronation of Charles last year and trained the Ukrainian military in Kenya. He became the first soldier to win the Mr. England title. "All I want to do is give my life for England, so I think I deserve the title of Mr. England," said the winner.

The British soldier, originally from Whitley Bay in Tyneside, is a lance corporal in the Coldstream Guards and is based at Victoria Barracks near Windsor Castle. He said that joining the army at the age of 16 turned him from "a boy into a man". "I am honored to receive this award. I will represent my country well and hopefully make everyone proud," Turner said. The Guadian added that he performed ceremonial duties during the coronation of the king and the funeral of Elizabeth II, as well as at the parade on the occasion of the queen's last birthday.
