Towels will be as soft like in a hotel: an easy way to freshen them up

Hotel towels always impress with their softness - they are pleasant and fluffy. While home textiles, over time, become stiff and unpleasant to the touch. Fortunately, there is a way to make towels soft at home.

The Daily Record was told about it by cleaning expert Aggie McKenzie. According to her, the miracle cure is ordinary vinegar. It works even if the towel is not new, has been through a lot of washing and seems hopeless. And it's white vinegar.

According to the expert, the acid-based liquid is more effective than expensive factory softeners. The reason is that the acid environment breaks down grease and soap residue that can eat away at terry cloths. Mackenzie called it wrong that many people add fabric conditioner during the wash. Even with a small overdose, it does not soften the fabric, but instead makes it stiffer. The conditioner molecules settle on the fibers and cause this effect.

To wash off all unnecessary substances from the towels, the expert advises adding a cup of white vinegar to the washing machine during the last rinse. It will remove all unnecessary residues and make the textile nice and fluffy. If it didn't work the first time, she advised repeating the procedure during the next wash.

At the same time, Mackenzie noted that you should not add vinegar to every wash. It only works well when it is needed - the fabric becomes stiff. She said the same product can also bring back depth of color to black items that have absorbed detergent molecules, making them grayish.

For those who don't like the smell of vinegar, Mackenzie recommends adding a few drops of her favorite essential oil. For example, lavender or tea tree. This flavoring needs to be stirred well, and it will then neutralize the specific aroma of the vinegar.
