Poet and performer Serhiy Zhadan, who recently joined the National Guard of Ukraine, has used his talent to raise a million hryvnias for charity. The artist took part in an advertising campaign for the McDonald's fast food chain by composing a poem for them, and the chain was touched by it.

The collaboration of a contemporary writer with such a large business was called "the flowering of Ukrainian culture." For several days now, Serhiy Zhadan's poetic lines have been discussed online, and the commercial has garnered over 400,000 views on YouTube.

The Ukrainian burger commercial is closely intertwined with the country's current topics: war, separation, veterans, and reunification. Zhadan himself took part in the video, speaking to Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.

Viewers saw in the video much more than an announcement of new dishes in a fast food chain. Zhadan's words even brought them to tears.

"It's very touching," he said, "It's a real work of art. The poem that accompanies the video is so insightful that I couldn't hold back my tears," "Right to the heart," "We need to remember this moment. This is the heyday of Ukrainian culture," Ukrainians wrote.

The poet emphasized that he had warned the company before the start of the collaboration where he would spend the million hryvnias he earned. The soldier decided to donate the fee to any charity or volunteer project, because "there is someone to help now."
