"This is my second home": TVORCHI vocalist Jeffrey Kenny explains why he didn't return to his native Nigeria after the full-scale invasion

Jeffrey Kenny explains why he did not return to his native Nigeria after February 24

This Saturday, May 13, the Ukrainian duo TVORCHI will compete for the crystal microphone at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 final in Liverpool. This year, Nigerian Jeffrey Kenny will represent our country. The vocalist considers Ukraine to be his second home and sincerely wishes to defend its honour in the vocal arena.

After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kenny could have easily left the war-torn country and travelled to his native Nigeria. However, the musician did not do so. He told the reasons why in an interview for the Eurovision Ukraine YouTube channel.

Jeffrey was born in Nigeria in 1997, and came to Ukraine to get his higher education. Here he graduated from Ternopil National Medical University, where his career began. When the Nigerian started making music, he decided that he would stay in our country.

Kenny did not leave Ukraine even after February 24. He considers this decision to be absolutely right.

"This is my second home. I've been here too long. I studied here, my friends are here. I can even call some of them my family. So this is my second home, and I would do anything for it that I would do for my own country. We have an interesting thing to do. And I thought that the best choice would be to stay here," said the TVORCHI vocalist.

It should be noted that a week before the final, Ukraine dropped in the bookmakers' rankings. Read the article to find out what place TVORCHI duo is predicted to take and who "pushed" our country down.
