On Sunday, January 14, the Miss America 2024 pageant was held in Orlando, Florida, and 22-year-old Madison Marsh won the title. The new crowned beauty is a junior lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and a master's student in the Harvard Kennedy School's Public Policy Program.

Marsh represented the state of Colorado and became the first US Air Force officer to receive the national title. This was reported by CNN.

This year, 51 beauties from all 50 states and the District of Columbia competed for the crown. The final took place after three nights of preliminary competitions. At the beginning of the main event, the field was narrowed down to 11 semi-finalists, 10 of whom were chosen by the judges and one by public vote.

The semi-finalists had four stages of the competition: a fitness runway show (walking on the catwalk in rhinestone-adorned sportswear), a discussion round of "hot topics" that replaced the more traditional questions and answers with scattered theses, a talent show, and an evening gown presentation.

In a somewhat disjointed discussion round that touched on topics such as terrorism, technology, nutrition, and climate change, Marsh responded to the topic of "drugs in America" by recalling her late mother's battle with pancreatic cancer. In the talent competition, she presented an oral essay about getting her pilot's license at the age of 16.

Five girls made it to the final round and were asked an additional question about their goals for the Miss America pageant. In her response, Marsh emphasized her military education as the embodiment of her commitment to learning and leading "with passion."

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that 20-year-old Eva Gilles from Nord-Pas-de-Calais became the new owner of the Miss France title. This is the first winner in the 103-year history of the contest with short hair. As it turned out, not all French people, who are used to "traditional beauties with long locks," liked it.
