Svyatoslav Vakarchuk compared Ukraine to Everest and explained who will help us win the war

Svyatoslav Vakarchuk explained what and who will help Ukraine win the war

The famous Ukrainian singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk said that on the front line he often performs his hit song "Everest" for the military, which in the new realities is perceived as a victory anthem. Just like climbing to the highest peak of the world, winning a war is a complex, long process accompanied by losses and terrible trials. Despite all this, the frontman of the band Okean Elzy is convinced that Ukraine will definitely climb its conditional Everest.

Vakarchuk understands how important the support of Western partners is for Ukraine today. However, he emphasizes that the only ones who can help Ukrainians are ourselves, or rather our daily work. The musician shared his thoughts in an interview with Radio Liberty, a fragment of which was published on the media outlet's Instagram page.

"It is we in Ukraine who feel a certain injustice that our best boys, girls, daughters, sons are giving their lives to protect not only Ukraine but all Western values, including the security of Europe. We do this, but they seem not to notice it. In fact, they do notice, but they do as much as they see fit at that moment. The people who can help us the most are ourselves. And not only on the front line, but also in principle, sometimes even pulling out our teeth or fighting for this support and help. It is important and so many people understand this, but without our daily work to ensure that this support is there, it will weaken," the performer said.

Vakarchuk reminded that Ukrainians simply have no choice but to fight. Our centuries-old history and future are at stake, and most importantly, our lives are at stake. To save them, Ukrainians must make every effort to bring victory in the war closer.

"We are now in a situation where we simply have no choice but to keep going and move forward to victory. For the sake of our children, for the sake of our past and our future. The road to victory is hard, difficult, but it exists. You know, I have a song called "Everest" and when I perform it for the soldiers, I always say that I dedicate this song to our victory. Is it difficult to climb Mount Everest? It is very difficult. Do you need to prepare for it? Yes, it is. Are there terrible trials and sometimes even sacrifices on the way? Yes. But is it possible? Yes. Many people have already done it. And we will definitely climb our own Everest, I'm sure of it," the artist commented.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the band"Okean Elzy" recently released their first song since 2022, titled "The Answer". The emotional and dramatic composition with a black-and-white video raised the topical issue of war.
