German Nenov accused Junior Eurovision of using his idea

A scandal is brewing around Junior Eurovision 2024 over the allegedly stolen idea for this year's show. Herman Nenov, the creative director of the National Selection in 2023 and the director of Anastasia Dymyd's performance, said that the organizers of the song contest plagiarized the design of the Ukrainian's performance last year.

The theme of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 was flowers, and the slogan was "Let's bloom". In 2023, Anastasia Dymyd performed the song "Flower", and her performance was decorated in a similar pink and lilac style with 3D flowers. Herman Nenov, who brought this idea to life, was outraged about the "theft" in a short interview published by MUZVAR.

He noted that the decision of the organizers of the song contest regarding the identity this year was not an attempt to imitate the idea they were inspired by. In his opinion, the stage and design were plagiarized from Anastasia Dymyd's performance.

"It's definitely not hommage, it's plagiarism, because the texture, shape, gradients... You can use a pipette and it will be the same. That's not how you get inspired," Nenov said.

However, he likes that Ukraine is not forgotten and that our country sets trends.

"Well, it's great. Ukraine is setting trends, I'm not sorry, I like to do some kind of restart, I like to make challenges," the director added.

The international Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be held on November 16 in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
