Sofia Rotaru will not come to Russia for any money: the singer's former director told about her principled position

Russian producer Sergey Lavrov speaks about the demand for Rotaru

Russian producer Sergey Lavrov, who has organized concerts for Ukrainian singer Sofia Rotaru in Russia in the past, said that "his phone was cut off." Allegedly, wealthy Russians are eager to book the star for non-New Year's corporate events and are willing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for private concerts.

However, the singer, according to her friend, flatly refuses to perform and has forbidden anyone to pester her with this question. Lavrov gave this comment to the Russian media.

According to him, Sofia Rotaru has never compromised her principles to make money. Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, she has said that "it is not the time for singing" and has suspended her concert activities.

"She is a very principled person. Unlike other artists, it was impossible to surprise her with money. So, no matter how much she is offered now, she will refuse. She says that now is not the time to work, to entertain the public. She forbids even asking about it! Although she does get a lot of requests. They cut off my phone trying to arrange her concerts. But I understand that it is impossible to organize them," the producer said.

However, the Russian said that the issue was not Rotaru's bad attitude toward Russians, but that it was "technically impossible." Like, it is impossible to bring the whole team of the artist to Russia now, because she works only with Ukrainians.

"Her musicians are all Ukrainian, her ballet is Ukrainian. To bring all of them to Russia now would be a fantasy. Sofia herself will somehow live without all these earnings. She is not a poor person. So there's no way she's going to give up everything and run off to sing for these 100 thousand dollars," the producer explained.

It is interesting that in the same article, propagandists said that last year Sofia Rotaru was invited to perform in Germany, but she did not agree. So, we can assume that it was the singer's pro-Ukrainian views, not the ability to take a team with her.
