"She was afraid to die of this disease." Tonia Matvienko spoke publicly for the first time about the last months of her mother's life

Tonia is Nina Matvienko's third child and her only daughter.

Singer Tonya Matvienko, who recently lost her mother, the legendary singer Nina Matvienko, has spoken for the first time about the passing of the People's Artist. Tonya says that Nina Mytrofanivna learned of her diagnosis in early August, and in October she passed away.

According to doctors, the singer had been ill for four years. Tonya Matvienko spoke about this in an interview with Viva!

In the interview, Tonia decided to tell what happened to her mother for the first time: "On August 8, at some point, she started to feel unwell (her stomach hurt a lot) and an ambulance took her to the hospital. It was a shock for everyone. How could this happen to a person who had been energetic, and athletic, did not drink, did not smoke, and ran up and down the stairs all her life? The doctor said that Nina had been ill for almost four years. It was also a shock for her. She was afraid of dying from this disease."

"We did not leave her alone in the hospital. Our family, all my relatives came every day. We changed, were on duty near her, walked with her, and took her outside. And exactly two months later, on October 8, it happened," says Tonia.

"I want everyone to hear, especially those who are over 40: be sure to have preventive examinations with doctors and undergo medical checkups once a year. You can stop it at an early stage and live for many more years," the singer added.

"I'm still shocked" Tonia continues, "and sometimes I even sleep in her room. Yes, I can't clean her bed. They advise me to take her clothes and things out... No, I want to smell her. I want to visit her again. I am not ready yet. Now I have moments when I want to call her, and share something with her: oh, I'll tell my mom, I need to ask my mom. Or, for example, little Nina was like: "I want tea like my grandmother used to make!" And I catch myself thinking that I'm going to call my mom and ask her: "What kind of tea?"
