Seductive images and a nightclub. What is known about the upcoming wedding of Norwegian Princess Martha Louise, who gave up the throne for a shaman

What is known about the wedding of Norwegian Princess Martha-Louise

Princess Martha-Louise of Norway and her fiancé Durek Verrett, who can be called one of the most extravagant royal couples, have shared their wedding plans. The celebration, which will last 3 days, has unusual rules.

It will culminate in a wedding ceremony scheduled for August 31. Crown Prince Haakon's 52-year-old older sister and 49-year-old shaman will gather guests in the garden of the 1904 Hotel in the center of Aalesund, Norway, HELLO writes.

Abandoning the royal tradition that the dress code often includes long dresses with modest necklines and covered shoulders, the lovers reportedly asked their guests to stick to the theme of "sexiness and cool."

Retreat from royal duties

This is likely a reflection of their rebellion against societal norms, which led to Martha's abdication of royal duties in November 2022. The daughter of King Harald V and Queen Sonja and her shaman boyfriend Durek have bonded over a shared sense of faith, as the princess runs her own alternative therapy center, Astarte Education.

It was announced that Marta had been removed from her official duties. "There was excitement when I took a different path. There was a lot of criticism, especially because I'm a believer; it's taboo in Norway," she said, adding, "The Norwegian people, I think, decided it was best for me to step down because of Durek's views."

Norwegian wedding

The bride and groom chose the tourist town of Geiranger, located next to a picturesque fjord, as the venue. "It is very important for us to gather our loved ones in a place that is so rich in history and rich in natural experiences. Geiranger is the perfect place to declare our love," says the princess.

On August 31, parish priest Margit Lovis Holte will marry the couple in a ceremony at the historic four-star hotel, which boasts a spa, three restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, its own nightclub, and even a vintage car museum. It is believed that on the wedding day the dress code will change to "black tie", and guests will wear tuxedos and long dresses.
