Ostap Stupka may spend 3 years in prison for a drunk accident in the Kyiv center. All the details of the scandalous case

Another hearing in the case of Ostap Stupka was held

Ukrainian actor Ostap Stupka, who caused a car accident in Kyiv on April 4, was charged with violating traffic safety rules while intoxicated, which caused serious bodily harm to the victim. Prosecutors in court asked for a three-year prison sentence.

The article also provides for deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for up to 5 years. The press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office announced this on Facebook after the hearing (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the photo).

The driver of the Range Rover, Ostap Stupka, was detained at the scene of the accident and his blood alcohol content was checked. It showed 1.62 ppm, while the norm is 0.3.

"Previously, the incident was classified under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules while intoxicated, which caused the victim a moderate bodily injury). However, taking into account the findings of the forensic medical examination, which established that the victim's injuries were severe, the criminal proceedings were reclassified to Part 2 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the official statement said.

Before the defendant's last word, the court adjourned after the debate. The next court hearing will take place on November 23.

To recap, the victim named Yaroslav, who was hospitalized after the accident, said that he spent three days unconscious in intensive care, underwent surgery and continues to undergo treatment. According to the driver of the Mitsubishi that the actor's Range Rover hit, he saw the culprit only a few times.

The accident happened on Fedorov Street in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. Investigators found that Stupka drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a parked car driven by a 38-year-old driver.

On April 6, the Shevchenkivskyi courtroom imposed a pre-trial restraint on the actor. He spent two months under nightly house arrest.

Afterwards, he said that he did not consider himself a criminal and called all this an accident. Moreover, according to the celebrity, this incident was sent to him by fate or "a father from heaven."

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Ivan Franko National Academic Theater publicly reacted to the accident. They believe that the accident is not a reason to fire the actor. Stupka himself has recently confidently stated that he is thankful to God that "everyone is alive and well," and that this story is supposed to end soon.
