New details of Liam Payne's death appeared online: police have put three suspects under arrest
After the death of British singer and former One Direction member Liam Payne, who fell from the third floor of a hotel on October 16, police launched an investigation to determine the details of the tragedy. Law enforcement officials have arrested three people suspected of involvement in the celebrity's death.
Argentina's prosecutor released a statement saying that the individuals are accused of "abandoning of a person followed by death, supply, and facilitation of narcotics," Metro reports. The suspects face up to 15 years in prison.
"Payne was not fully conscious or was experiencing a state of noticeable decrease or loss of consciousness at the time of the fall," the office of prosecutor Andres Esteban Madrea said.
Two employees of the hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, where the singer's life ended, became suspects in the artist's death. They were charged with supplying drugs to Liam Payne shortly before the tragedy. The third arrestee was a friend of the former One Direction member who accompanied him every day.
On the eve of the arrest, police searched the suspects' homes. Their names have not yet been disclosed.
Law enforcement officials analyzed more than 800 recordings from the hotel's CCTV cameras. They collected testimonies from the hotel staff, medical professionals, family members and friends of the star. They also checked the call history, messages, and accounts on Liam Payne's phone.
According to investigators, the British celebrity's death was caused by multiple injuries, including internal and external bleeding, which resulted from a fall from the third floor of the hotel. According to police, early toxicology reports showed that the artist had drugs in his system that caused inappropriate behavior.
