Model Gigi Hadid arrested for drug possession: what's known
World-famous American model Gigi Hadid was arrested in the Cayman Islands for drug possession. The star of the catwalks and the face of world brands was fined a thousand dollars (more than 36 thousand hryvnias).
As it turned out, the 28-year-old supermodel traveled with marijuana, legally purchased in New York with a medical license. About this writes People.
The celebrity reportedly flew to the vacation on a private jet that landed at Owen Roberts International Airport. During the passage of control in her bag, the staff found drugs in her bag.
As the model's spokesperson emphasized, cannabis has been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017.
"Gigi traveled with marijuana legally purchased in New York under a medical license. Her story remains clean and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island," commented Hadid's agent.
Drugs were also found in the bag of the model's friend, blogger Leah Nicole McCarthy. Both celebrities were arrested on "suspicion of importation of marijuana as well as marijuana consumption utensils" and were taken to a detention center.
Gigi and Leah Nicole were released on bail. Both pleaded guilty during a court hearing that took place on July 12.
Soon the model shared on her personal Instagram page a selection of vacation photos, which she signed, "All's well that ends well."
Recall, immediately after the full-scale invasion Gigi Hadid openly supported Ukraine. She donated large sums to help the AFU.
As OBOZREVATEL wrote earlier, Ukrainian TV presenter Yanina Sokolova explained the importance of the legalization of medical cannabis in Ukraine. The journalist recalled how she fought with oncology in 2019 and with what pains she then had to face. Read more - in our material.
