Kevin Costner burst into tears during a 7-minute ovation at the Cannes Film Festival

American actor Kevin Costner, who co-wrote and starred in the Western series "Horizon: An American Saga", received a 7-minute ovation at the Cannes Film Festival for his first directorial work in 11 years. The support of the audience and his own family touched the Hollywood star so much that the audience could see tears on his face.

After the screening of his film and the applause, the 69-year-old actor was supposed to give a speech of gratitude, but before that, he even wiped away a tear, HELLO! He explained that he would "never forget" this year's film festival after the overwhelming support.

He showed the audience his new western, "Horizon: An American Saga", which stars the actor's 15-year-old son Hayes. According to Warner Bros., the series of films is "a multifaceted chronicle of the expansion of the Civil War and the settlement of the American West."

After 7 minutes of applause, the "Batman vs Superman" star finally began his speech and even made a joke: "I'm sorry it took you so long to applaud for me to realize I had to speak."

Costner even recalled the closest people who "came with me, people who believed in me, who kept working." The actor probably included his seven children in this list, five of whom came to support their father in Cannes. Among those present were his daughters Annie and Lily from his first marriage to Cindy Silva and Caden, Grace, and Hayes from his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner.

"I will never forget this. None of my children. They are all so beautiful, so well dressed, women, and men. They're so beautiful," Kostner said to the front row, where his descendants were standing.

He continued, talking about his project: "I created this. It's not mine anymore. It is yours. I knew that the minute it was over, and that's the way it should be. I think these films are not about the weekend. They are about life and how many times you are willing to share it."
