William's wife expressed her gratitude by sending letters to all those who were confused about Catherine's health, HELLO writes. Usually, royals thank the public on special occasions, such as when they receive cards on their birthdays, their children's birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and national holidays such as Christmas.

A short message on Kensington Palace letterhead reads: "Thank you for your good wishes to HRH The Princess Royal of Wales. Your thoughtful gesture is greatly appreciated." Breaking with tradition, the letter was not accompanied by a photo.
