It is known that this year Suspilne received a record number of applications for participation in Junior Eurovision - 309. Most of them were sent by solo performers: 83% belonged to girls and 17% to boys.

This year, in order to represent Ukraine on the European stage, the young singers had to record two covers and a personal video presentation. After being included in the longlist, all 15 participants will take part in a summer "star school" at the Ukrainian Radio Recording House. There, the children will be able to improve their skills in vocals, acting and choreography. As a result, 6 finalists will be selected.

Once announced, the performances will be prepared by singer Svitlana Tarabarova and producer Yevhen Triplov (both will prepare original songs) and choreographer Yevhen Kot (responsible for stage performances).

The final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take placein September in the same way as the classic Eurovision Song Contest: in the format of a TV concert. The Grand Finalist will be chosen by 3 jury members and the audience.

Svitlana Tarabarova, music producer of the Junior National Song Contest, shared her impressions of this year's selection: "A lot of things are new to me: for the first time, a record number of applications, for the first time a new expanded format of the National Selection, for the first time a young father Yevhen Kot and a talented producer Yevhen Triplov joined the team. However, the high level of the contestants and the incredible difficulty in selecting the participants of the longlist remain unchanged. All the children inspire sincere admiration, all of them are already winners - and these are not empty words, because in what other country in the world, during the hottest phase of the war, despite the lack of electricity, water, constant rocket attacks, children find the strength to engage in creativity, once again emphasizing the invincibility of the nation. From now on, it's only forward and upward!"

The final of Junior Eurovision 2024 will take place on November 16 at the Caja Mágica arena in Madrid, Spain.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that a 12-year-old Ukrainian girl, who was forced to emigrate due to the full-scale Russian invasion, reached the final of the National Selection for Junior Eurovision in the Netherlands.
