Jack Gleeson, the star of "Game of Thrones," recited a poem by Serhii Zhadan in an embroidered shirt. Video

Jack Gleeson chose a poem by Serhii Zhadan for the meeting with Ukrainians

The Irish actor, and star of the popular TV series "Game of Thrones," Jack Gleeson, recited the poem "Player" by the poet and singer Serhiy Zhadan in English translation. A few years ago, it was translated for the New York Times magazine by the American writer and theater artist of Ukrainian descent, Virlyana Tkach, and the American poet Wanda Phipps.

It was no accident that the artist chose "Player." According to the star, the pre-war poetry of the Ukrainian is more relevant than ever in our time. The video was posted on the page of the Ukrainian-British Association of Screen Industry Professionals, Talented U. (to see photos and videos, scroll to the bottom of the page)

Jack Gleeson wore a colorful, dull purple embroidered shirt with the Ukrainian flag on the collar and blue and yellow embroidery. He also wore a funny T-shirt with the words "Chebureks are power. To the enemy - the grave".

Gleeson attended a master class at the Talented U Association in London. He met with Ukrainian actors and directors, shared his experience and discussed the challenges faced by actors in light of the war.

"Jack deliberately chose this poem from a variety of materials offered to him. The 2000 poem, previously published in The New York Times, still sounds very relevant," stated Talented U.

We would like to add that the actor, who portrayed King Joffrey Baratheon, was first spotted in Kyiv in February of this year. He did not come to Ukraine empty-handed but brought a pickup truck for the Armed Forces.

According to the star, he realizes that popularity is a great and important tool that should be used to help Ukrainians. Thanks to his arrival in Ukraine, the artist himself suggests that more and more people around the world will pay attention to the struggle of the Ukrainian people against the brutal aggressor.

As OBOZ.UA reported, while Jack Gleeson was having breakfast in a Kyiv restaurant, popular Ukrainian comedian Mark Kutsevalov approached him as a correspondent and asked him several joking questions. One of them concerned the opponents of the Russian dictator Putin. Read more in our article.
