"It was covered with glass and thrown into the wall. I don't know how we survived": KOZAK System frontman's daughter was injured in Chernihiv

At the time of the criminal rocket attack on Chernihiv on 19 August, the daughter of KOZAK System frontman Ivan Leno Malanka was near the epicentre of the explosion - the drama theatre. She was lightly injured and very frightened.

The famous musician said on Facebook that he turned grey after receiving a message from his daughter, who could not contain her emotions. Her mother was also in Chernihiv at the time (to see the photo, scroll to the bottom of the page).

"I arrived at the drama theatre. Tanya and I were across the road from it. We lay down quickly, but it covered us with glass and ash and threw us into the wall. Tanya's head was slightly scratched, I had minor scratches and some blood. There were a lot of corpses and screaming. We ran through the glass and among the corpses. Dad, this is f*cked up. I don't know how we survived, but I'm grateful to our angels," Malanka said in a statement.

After the explosion, the girls ran to the basement, where they shook out the glass and treated their wounds. Malanka's mother, the star's wife, was in another basement at the time.

Ukrainian actress Natalia Denysenko and her 5-year-old son were also in the vicinity of the Russian missile hit. They were about to take a walk in the city centre, but were miraculously delayed. Read more in our article.

As a reminder, on 9 August, the Russian Federation struck the centre of Chernihiv with an Iskander-M ballistic missile. Seven people were killed, including a 6-year-old child, and 117 people were injured, including at least 12 minors.

The plane hit the drama theatre on Red Square, the city's main square. The theatre was hosting an exhibition of drone manufacturers called 'Angry Birds'. In connection with the tragedy, 19-21 August were declared days of mourning in Chernihiv.

As OBOZREVATEL wrote, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released a video from the arrival site. The moment of the hit was also captured on the cameras of local residents.
