"I’m not afraid to die, but it would annoy me": "Jurassic Park" star talks about terminal illness

New Zealand actor Sam Neill, known for his roles in "Jurassic Park", "The Hunt for Red October" and "Event Horizon" has admitted that he is terminally ill. The 75-year-old star was diagnosed with stage-three blood cancer a year ago.

It was reported by The Guardian. The star noted - his exact diagnosis is called angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. Neill first mentioned his illness in his memoir, "Did I Ever Tell You This?"  The book will be available for purchase in the U.S., U.K., and Australia on March 21, 2023.

"I’m not afraid to die, but it would annoy me. Because I’d really like another decade or two, you know? We’ve built all these lovely terraces, we’ve got these olive trees and cypresses, and I want to be around to see it all mature. And I’ve got my lovely little grandchildren. I want to see them get big," Sam Neill says.

The actor is now in remission after a course of chemotherapy. As the celebrity said, he wasn't impressed with popularity in this condition, he'd studiously avoided it. In his local village of Clyde with a one-cop town, few people pay attention to him.

"There’s a complete lack of privacy for one thing, and privacy is very, very, very important, I can walk down the street in Surry Hills and get my coffee, and nobody bothers me, you know? And there’s no paparazzi. My life is my own," emphasized Neill.
