"I got drunk to oblivion": Melovin admitted why he started drinking alcohol after the outbreak of the great war and what the addiction led to
Ukrainian singer Kostiantyn Bocharov, better known by his stage name Melovin, admitted that he became addicted to alcohol after the outbreak of a full-scale war. He noted that he had never given up drinking alcohol before, but the biggest problems began on February 24, 2022, as the invasion became a kind of "abyss" for the artist.
The performer spoke about this in an interview for the YouTube project "Exam. New Reality." The celebrity emphasized that at a certain point, he realized that alcohol does not help to cope with problems, so he has not been drinking for a year and a half.
"The war has made the gap between the past life not just because missiles are flying and you adapt to the world differently, but completely mental. The worldview has changed: "Who are you?", "What do you want to do?", "Were these your dreams or imposed by someone else?" A lot of fears and childhood images began to surface. It was like a catalyst – all the processes started simultaneously," the star said.
According to Melovin, at a certain point, he began to feel alone, even if there were many people around. That's when the singer started drinking alcohol because it took away his anxiety. As the 27-year-old noted, over time, a small amount of alcohol was not enough to completely relax, so he "increased the dose," which caused addiction.
"Alcohol does not turn off consciousness, it changes it. It creates an alternative reality that has nothing to do with our reality. There is a distortion," the singer said.
Melovin admitted that he began to realize the seriousness of the consequences of his addiction when he started having health problems. One day, his arm went numb for three days, after which he went to the doctor.
"Tests showed that I had steatohepatosis of the liver (a disease that is accompanied by fatty liver cells – Ed.) I went for an ultrasound and a woman said to me: "I'm sorry, but I've only seen livers like this in farmers who poison fields, and they are over 50 years old." Then she asked me if I had been poisoned. I said, "You just don't understand the amount of alcohol I drink. I could drink two bottles of gin in an evening. I drank myself into oblivion," the artist said about the consequences of addiction.
Melovin shared that it was alcohol that caused his other disease, diabetes. When the star decided to finally get rid of his addiction, he took several steps. According to the singer, he completely changed his team so that there were no people who drank alcohol and started seeing a therapist.
