Everything was burning around and soil was falling on his head: Kozlovskyi shares how he almost died on the front line

Kozlovskyi wrote the song under the influence of memories of shelling

Vitalii Kozlovskyi, a Ukrainian singer and soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, shared how he and his comrades almost died under enemy fire. The experience inspired him to write the song "Navkruhy" (Around), which he recorded after returning to Kyiv.

He dedicated the track to the soldiers who shared a moment of fear of death with him. The author wrote about this on his Instagram.

"That night there were five of us in the dugout. Our positions were being shelled for 2.5 hours. Everything was burning around us, soil was falling on our heads. Someone was praying, someone was smoking, someone was texting their loved ones," Vitalii Kozlovskyi recalled.

He said that shells fell right around the dugout, but did not kill any of the heroes. The shelling took place at night, and in the morning the defenders saw ashes instead of a dense forest.

"The mice that used to run around us every night are lying on the ground, shell-shocked. The nearest shell crater is 7 meters from our dugout. But the most important thing is that everyone is alive. And we even find the strength to joke. What happens in your mind when you think it's over changes your consciousness forever," the Armed Forces soldier said.

The song "Around" was born overnight under the influence of memories of terrible events. The singer dedicated it to his four friends: Batia, Vitalii, Vanka and Sanych.

The artist showed videos filmed at the position. The footage shows not only the dugout, weapons and Kozlovskyi's comrades-in-arms but also the aftermath of the very shelling that almost became fatal for the star.
