"Everything is set up." Miss Universe Argentina 2024 lost her crown due to criticism of the pageant
Magalí Benejam, a participant in the Miss Universe beauty pageant who represented Argentina in 2024, lost her title. The reason was her words during a live broadcast on YouTube that the results were falsified.
The 30-year-old Miss Universe Argentina 2024 took 12th place in the contest. Benejam was not satisfied with this result, according to the New York Post.
The native of Cordoba sharply criticized the winner of Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark, and another contestant who was among the top 12 beauties, Miss Puerto Rico Jennifer Colon.
"When they announced the Top 5, I saw the judges look at each other strangely," Benejam said: "This is not what I chose." That's what it looked like. And then I said to myself: "Everything is set up." The results are adjusted every year."
The Argentine did not rule out the possibility that her Danish opponent knew about her victory in advance. She argued that at least three bodyguards followed the girl everywhere during the last three days of the competition. The model also criticized Jennifer Colon, saying that she had the "worst" dress. She noted that her rival from Puerto Rico had suddenly stopped talking to her in recent days.
After hearing Magalí Benejam's comments, the beauty pageant organizers decided to strip her of her crown.
"The Miss Universe Organization announces the withdrawal of the Miss Universe Argentina title from Magalí Benejam," the organization said. "The decision was made after careful consideration and is consistent with our commitment to upholding the highest standards of personal and professional conduct. We want to emphasize that this is done to protect the integrity of the organization and the opportunities it provides to women around the world."
