Eurovision 2024: an outsider country, in which no one believed, suddenly deprived Ukraine of leadership

A country that almost no one was betting on has become the leader of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 betting odds. Iceland not only moved up about 20 positions in a short time, but also overtook Ukraine, which was at the top of the table.

Bets on the victory of the Icelandic representative are growing every day, even though he hasn't even been elected yet. The rating can be tracked online on the Eurovision World website.

The table as of the morning of January 27 looks like this:

1. Iceland – 11% to win

2. Ukraine – 9%.

3. Great Britain – 8%

4. Italy – 6%.

5. Sweden – 5% 

Only the first two countries in the ranking have changed in two days. A few weeks before, Ukraine was on the first place with a score of 9%.

Until recently, Iceland was at the bottom of the rankings with a minimum 3% chance of winning, but after the announcement of a Palestinian participant in the national selection, the situation has changed.

The singer Bashar Murad, who lives in Jerusalem, will take part in the preliminary stage of the selection for the song contest. The local national selection – Söngvakeppnin – will take place in February-March.

If a performer of Palestinian descent wins, he or she will talk to the Icelandic broadcaster about whether they want to go on a show that features a representative from Israel. Earlier, Iceland said they demanded that the Israeli participant be ignored.
