Today, on October 23, British actress Emilia Clarke, who gained worldwide recognition for her role of Daenerys Targaryen in the cult TV series "Game of Thrones," turns 38. Thanks to her incredible charisma and talented acting, the celebrity captured the hearts of millions of viewers around the world.

The artist was especially favored by fans from our country when she publicly supported Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion. In honor of the star's birthday, OBOZ.UA decided to tell why part of her brain is not functioning and how the celebrity demonstrated her pro-Ukrainian position.

How the "mother of dragons" supported Ukraine

After the outbreak of a full-scale war organized by Russia, Emilia Clarke publicly called on her fans to help the citizens of our country. On social media, the star left links where people could make donations.

"My heart is breaking along with many others for the ongoing suffering, pain, and grief experienced by millions of people in Ukraine," the celebrity wrote.

The actress explained in detail to her followers what could be done to provide Ukrainians with food, water, shelter, and medical care. In addition, Emilia Clarke shared pictures of herself posing in a T-shirt with a blue and yellow heart, with the proceeds going to the charity.

The actress survived two brain hemorrhages

At the beginning of her enchanting acting career, Emilia Clarke had to survive two brain hemorrhages. The first happened in 2011 when she had already played the role of the "mother of dragons." Then the celebrity lost the ability to speak for a certain period and almost fell into a coma.

The next relapse occurred in 2013 and resulted in surgery. According to the actress, she was incredibly lucky to be among the "small minority" of people who survived these problems and can function fully. In an interview, Emilia Clarke admitted that despite the threat to her life, her biggest fear was being fired from "Game of Thrones."

"When you have a brain injury, it changes your well-being on such a dramatic level that all the insecurity you feel in the workplace quadruples overnight. The first fear I had was: "Oh my God, am I going to get fired? Am I going to get fired because they think I'm not capable of doing the job?" the artist recalled.

Due to serious health problems, certain parts of the celebrity's brain are not functioning: "If you look at the scan, you'll see that there are a lot of black parts, and that's where he's dead."

The subarachnoid hemorrhage occurred after an aneurysm burst in the central part of the star's nervous system. Such a problem is typical for older people and is accompanied by severe fatigue, sleep problems, impaired vision, and mobility. Fortunately, these problems bypassed the actress and she continued her creative work.
