Dune star Timothée Chalamet spotted with his Russian "doppelganger" who avoids talking about the war
The American actor and star of the sci-fi movie Dune Timothée Chalamet was spotted with Russian "double" Mark Eidelstein, who prefers to avoid talking about the brutal war that Russia has started against Ukraine. They posed together during the Gotham Awards ceremony.
The photo was posted on the Instagram page of IndieWire. The Russian appeared at the international event as he played one of the leading roles in the comedy drama Anora directed by Sean Baker.
"The duo that we needed," they wrote under the photo.
It is worth noting that Mark Eidelstein has never expressed his opinion on the full-scale invasion. The actor most likely decided to go "Swiss" in order not to lose his place in the Russian film industry. Although he managed to get a role in an American film, he did not stop acting in domestic films either.
Moreover, the Russians have recently released the film Sto let tomu vperyod (Guest from the Future), which, in addition to the Timothée Chalamet's doppelganger, features propagandist Yuri Borisov. In 2020, the artist stated that the most important thing for him was to portray interesting characters. The fact that this project is openly propagandistic does not bother him.
Eidelstein does not shy away from giving interviews to Putin henchmen too. In 2024, he spoke with Fedor Bondarchuk, who does not hide his allegiance to the Kremlin's occupation authorities and supports the war in Ukraine.
