Daryl's dog from The Walking Dead dies: actor shows cute photos with his pet

Daryl's dog (real name Sammy), a favorite of The Walking Dead fans, died on the night of June 13-14. He lived for only 7 years, which is not enough for his breed, the Belgian Malinois, as they usually live for more than 10 years. Actor Norman Reedus, who played Daryl in the series, did not disclose the cause of death.

Seven appeared in 25 episodes of The Walking Dead, starting with season 9, which was released in 2018. At that time, the dog was only a year old, and since then, he has become a favorite not only among fans but also among the actors. For example, Norman Reedus posted heartwarming photos with his series companion on Instagram.

"Will miss you, Seven. Best TV buddy ever," he captioned a photo of the team with the dog.

The loss of the four-legged friend was also reported on the series' official Instagram page. "Rest in peace, the best boy in the Walking Dead universe, Seven," the message read.

In the movie, Seven was Daryl's companion dog and was nicknamed "The Dog". In the story, the animal originally belonged to his beloved Leah, played by actress Lynn Collins. After the girl disappeared without a trace, Daryl decided to take custody of the dog.

"I love it. I think he's the smartest actor we have. The other day we filmed a scene that ended up being the opposite of what it was supposed to be, because the dog just wanted to do something different, and it worked out. He will probably host the show! I love it too," Norman Reedus told ComicBook in 2018.

Daryl's dog last appeared in the series finale in November 2022.
