Alessandro Nasini, curator of the new portrait exhibition at Buckingham Palace, explained why the royal family photoshop their photos. According to him, editing is a "vital tool" for the Windsors.

It is with the help of additional functions of the editor that not just live photos are created, but photos that are then hung at exhibitions. The words of the expert were reported by the Daily Mail journalists.

Many of the photos presented in the Royal Gallery of Buckingham Palace have been retouched. The editing process is described in detail under each frame.

However, these rules are not followed when it comes to photos for social media. Perhaps that is why the followers of the dukes and duchesses expect to see photos without photoshop and are upset when they notice inaccurate details.

This is what happened in the case of Kate Middleton, who corrected her photo with her children and made headlines in British newspapers.

The curator of the exhibition disagreed with the criticism of the princess and explained why the Windsors use Photoshop.

"Retouching has been a part of photography since its inception. It is very important for portrait photography because it is a creative process. It is not press photography, not reportage, not commercial photography. It's just a tool that has always been used by photographers to translate their vision and aesthetics into the final print," explained Alessandro Nasini.

Earlier, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry also got into a photoshop scandal. The official photo from Prince Archie's christening was "enhanced".

This accusation came after the furor caused by the portrait of the Princess of Wales on Mother's Day. Kate Middleton admitted that the image was edited by her, but several international news agencies still removed the photo from circulation.
