Russians are not in a hurry to go to Crimea: occupiers' hotels cut prices by 40% at once
Despite all the statements made by the occupation administrations in Crimea, the holiday season of 2023 on the peninsula has not been a success. Local hotels have already had to reduce prices by 40%, and still, holidaymakers have not filled even half of the available places.
This was reported by the Representative Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Ilya Umansky, head of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, also mentioned similar discounts - 20-40% - in Russian propaganda media.
"Due to low demand, hotels in Crimea have reduced prices for tourists by up to 40%. At the same time, due to the high occupancy of resorts in Krasnodar Krai, the occupancy of hotels in Crimea in June did not exceed 50%," the Ukrainian presidential office said.
At the same time, the occupation administrations report that "Crimea is waiting for tourists" and that holding a good holiday season is "important" for them. In view of this, the Russian government has allocated 2.5 billion rubles to support tourism in the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol.
"During the low season of 2023, some hotels closed, and the flow of tourists was redistributed among the available facilities. At the same time, we saw that the booking leverage was rapidly shrinking, and the main flow of guests was directly from Crimea itself. The number of people coming from the mainland has dropped significantly," said Dmitry Gladkov, manager of a hotel in Alushta.
Umansky expects the number of tourists to increase in late July and August. However, on 9 July, the 'authorities' of the occupied territories announced that traffic on the Crimean bridge was blocked. At the same time, Russia continues to impose temporary restrictions on flights to occupied Simferopol. This reduces the already scarce flow of holidaymakers.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, earlier the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine started accepting applications for the reserve of employees of state bodies to work in Crimea. The Ministry of Reintegration called on everyone who understands the importance of restoring the de-occupied territories, has the necessary qualifications and is aware of the level of responsibility for working in the civil service to join the reserve.
